FFL Transfer FAQ

How much does an FFL transfer cost?+

Our standard FFL transfer fee is $40 per item — this applies to handguns, long guns (rifles), and shotguns. The fee is due at the time we begin your ATF Form 4473. For NFA items such as silencers and short-barreled rifles, the fee is $130 for the first item ($100 transfer fee + $30 fingerprint digitization) and $100 for each additional NFA item — due at the time we begin your ATF Form 4.

What is an FFL transfer?+

Federal law requires that firearms purchased online or from out-of-state sellers be shipped to a licensed FFL dealer near you. The FFL dealer receives the firearm, verifies your identity, runs a background check, and transfers the firearm to you legally. Crum & Co. Outdoors is Franklin County's only FFL storefront.

What ID do I need to bring?+

You'll need a valid government-issued photo ID. Florida residents must present a Florida driver's license or state ID. Out-of-state residents should contact us before arranging a transfer.

How long does the transfer take?+

Most transfers are completed the same day once the firearm arrives and you come in. NICS background checks are typically instant, though some may require additional processing time.

Can I transfer a firearm I purchased from a private seller?+

Yes. Private party transfers of firearms between residents of different states must go through an FFL dealer. Contact us to discuss your specific situation.

Do you accept transfers from any online retailer?+

We accept transfers from most licensed online dealers. Contact us before placing your order to confirm and to get our FFL information.

What areas do you serve for FFL transfers?+

We serve customers throughout Franklin County including Apalachicola, Eastpoint, Carrabelle, St. George Island and the surrounding Forgotten Coast. We are the only FFL storefront in Franklin County.
